With the assistance of a fellow bird photog I got to photograph my first owl while spotlighting on Ash Island, near Newcastle. This cool Barn Owl was perched in a tree near the road when we found him/her, but when we stopped it flew to a higher branch where it remained long enough for both of us to get some photos.
Well done - to spot him, and to get such a great photo without blasting him with the flash.
