Cold, wet, dirty and birds

Two hours at Stockton Sandspit this morning found two cute little Red-capped Plover chicks. Must have only been days old, but they are the first for the (early) season.

Not much of a meal for a big bird, but obviously this little fish was still worthy of a flip.

Trusting me to get close, but still not taking its eye off of me.

Off into the big blue.

Bit of a stretch for this young Stilt. Those legs are insane :)

Not huge numbers of other birds but enough to get me crawling on the cold, wet ground in single figure temperature. Bring on the warm sunny weather :)
